Subject :  ACCREDITATION OF SLAUGHTERHOUSES AND MEAT PROCESSING PLANTS IN KOREA TO EXPORT PORK AND ITS BY-PRODUCTS INTO THE PHILIPPINES   

   
WHEREAS,   the International Health Code of the Office International des Epizooties (OIE) requires twelve (12) months waiting period after the last case if vaccination, stamping-out and an effective surveillance have been carried out to allow the formerly FMD-free country to regain its FMD-free status;
   
WHEREAS,   the Republic of Korea has complied with the requirements stipulated in the International Animal Health Code of the OIE;
   
WHEREAS, there has been no reported outbreak of FMD in the Republic of Korea since April 26, 2000;
   
WHEREAS,  the slaughterhouses and meat processing plants listed below which were visited by the Department of Agriculture Inspection Team comply with the quarantine procedures and meat inspection system, and found to be favorable to export pork and its by-products into the Philippines.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, LEONARDO Q. MONTEMAYOR, Secretary of Agriculture, by the power vested in me by law, do hereby issue this order granting accreditation of the above-mentioned foreign meat establishments to export pork and its by-products into the Philippines.

All meat processing plants must source their pork carcasses and its products from the Philippine Department of Agriculture accredited slaughterhouses. Further, all import transaction shall be in accordance with the existing rules and regulations of the Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Animal Industry and the National Meat Inspection Commission (DA-BAI-NMIC).

All orders, rules and regulations or parts thereof which are inconsistent with the provisions of this order are hereby repealed or amended accordingly.

This Order shall take effect immediately.
