Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar met with members of the Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura (SINAG) composed of seed growers, fertilizer, irrigators, fisheries, chicken, and livestock groups, rice farmers, and millers, as well as corn, and onion farmers at the Office of the Secretary on January 7, 2020.

During the meeting, Dar instructed the Philippine Rice Research Institute to process payment to the suppliers who have already committed quality seeds under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) to prevent the delay.

In relation to the high prices of fertilizer, Dar encouraged SINAG members to put up fertilizer businesses to create competitive markets and eventually bring down prices. He stressed that the accreditation process under the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority has been streamlined following the ease of doing business strategy. (Photos by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
