DA–Corn Program intensifies digitalization, streamlines internal processes

Author: DA-AFID | 27 February 2026

As part of the Department’s continuing efforts to digitalize and streamline internal processes, the Department of Agriculture – National Corn Program (DA–NCP) conducted a five-day workshop on the encoding of FY 2026 targets in the Operations Management Information System (O-MIS) in Cavite from February 23 to 27, 2026.

The activity aimed to capacitate corn coordinators and report officers from Regional Field Offices (RFOs) and Operating Units (OUs) with the proper encoding procedures. It also emphasized adherence to government auditing rules and standards to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance in reporting.

In his message, DA–NCP Program Director Earl Vincent P. Vegas underscored the importance of ensuring that programs planned by corn coordinators are implemented efficiently and delivered on time to farmers. He stressed that meeting targets is essential to achieving the program’s intended outcomes and providing timely support to the agricultural sector.

The O-MIS serves as a centralized platform for consolidating physical and financial targets, tracking real-time accomplishments, and monitoring the implementation of various programs and projects. By integrating data across regions, the system strengthens planning, evaluation, and performance monitoring.

Through improved data consolidation, streamlined performance metrics, and integrated analytics, the system enables operating units to identify trends, detect gaps, and respond promptly to operational needs. This enhanced approach not only improves efficiency but also promotes transparency, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making across regional agricultural initiatives. ### (Kristel Joyce Merle and Florencia Gemma Garcia, DA-AFID)
