Beyond Buzzwords: Transforming Philippine Agriculture!

6th Regional Organic Agriculture Congress

Author: DA Communications Group | 20 September 2019

Dar promotes organic input application and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) during 6th Regional Organic Agriculture Congress held on September 20, 2019 in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Secretary Dar explained that Organic Agriculture is a “specialty agriculture” with its own niche market, and cannot singlehandedly feed the whole country. He encouraged the farmers to apply organic inputs instead.

The DA chief furthered that using organic inputs enhances the microbial ecosystem of the soil, ensuring that plants will have the necessary nutrients, thus improving and sustaining soil health. Dar added that to be more practical and realistic, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) must be a major strategy to increase agricultural productivity and farmers’ income.  (Photos by Alan Jay Jacalan, AFID)
