Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William Dar highlighted the importance of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in the system of agricultural development in the country during its 35th founding anniversary program, January 25, 2022.

The agri chief noted the ATI’s new role as capacity builders instead of simply being referred to as the “DA’s extension arm”. True to the theme of the celebration, Sec. Dar also challenged the ATI “to put more expertise and bring in the human capital that can continue to innovate, has that foresight and how to build and capacitate the extension delivery system of this country.”

He encouraged the ATI to continue capacitating and enhancing the banner programs of the Department, especially the key strategies under the “OneDA Reform Agenda”.

Established in 1987, ATI is mandated to provide training to agricultural extension workers and clientele, as well as lead in delivering extension services for agriculture and fisheries online and on-ground.

ATI’s anniversary celebration will run from January 25 to 28, at its head office in Quezon City and ATI Regional Training Centers nationwide. (Photo by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
