Awarding of DA Assistance to Damortis Fisherfolk’s Association, La Union (July 22, 2021)

Agriculture Secretary William Dar awarded one unit of 62-footer ring net fishing boat worth P23 million to the Damortis Fisherfolk’s Association (DFA) of Santo Tomas, La Union. The intervention is under the Fisheries Sector Program of the DA-Regional Field Office (RFO) in the Ilocos Region.

The fishery assistance aims to provide the association a sturdier vessel in support to the Enhancement of Capture Fisheries Production in the Province of La Union. On July 22, Arnold Eslao, president of DFA and Benedicto Domondon, member of DFA, received the certificate of award during a ceremony held at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University in Bacnotan, La Union.

Earlier in Lingayen, Pangasinan, Sec. Dar also distributed other fishery projects including a Tilapia broodstock development facility and a modified tilapia enhancement facility, amounting to P3.5 million.
