Subic Bay Metroplitan Area (SBMA) Representative Atty. Manuel Quijano toured Agriculture Secretary William Dar to the proposed site area for the food terminal inside the premise of the Bataan Technological Park on December 4, 2020.

The initiative is part of the collaborative project of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Kanawan Magbukun Aeta Community through the Magbukon Agro Venture Inc. towards sustainable and inclusive agribusiness.

The project aims to establish a food terminal that will serve as central storage, warehousing facility, and trading center for agricultural produce of the Aeta community.

Sec. Dar said that aside from a food terminal, the area is suitable for the development of research centers. He instructed the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Regional Director and National Program Coordinator for bangus to form a team that will look into the possibility of setting up the head office for the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI) and bangus marine hatchery.

The DA chief added that the 365-hectare area may be developed for smart agriculture centers, greenhouses, fertigation farm, precision agriculture centers, and state-managed agribusiness areas. ### (Photos by Gian Carlo Luague, DA-AFID)
