Agriculture Secretary William Dar chaired the panel discussion on “Policy and Business Environment in Major Asian Countries,” during the first day of the “BioAg Asia 2022,” at the National Agricultural Science Complex, New Delhi in India, on April 20, 2022.

In his opening message, he stressed the need to combine the use of organic and inorganic inputs under the balanced fertilization strategy to attain maximum yield of production areas, while maintaining soil health and crop quality.

As lead panelist, Secretary Dar shared that part of the Philippine government’s strategy to ensure healthy farming is the inclusion of bio-fertilizers, bio-stimulants, and other non-synthetic inputs in the package of interventions to enable Filipino farmers produce quality and nutritious crops.

For many decades now, agricultural lands have been exposed to unhealthy practices and technologies, which have compromised soil condition, and quality and quantity of harvests. The two-day BioAg Asia 2022 — attended by hundreds of delegates from more than a dozen countries — serves as a platform for discussions on bio-control and bio-stimulant strategies, as well as research and technology of various groups not only in Asia but the rest of the world. It also features exhibits of innovative natural and biological products from several enterprises in India and the rest of Asia. (Photo by Adora Rodriguez, DA-AFID)
