Agriculture Secretary William Dar and Bureau of Agricultural Research Director Vivencio Mamaril awarded the certificates of internship to young Filipinos accepted under the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Mentoring and Attracting Youth in Agribusiness (MAYA) Program on March 10, 2021.

The 12 interns awarded will be mentored under the guidance of the DA-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).

There will be 808 selected applicants to undergo the 24-week internship program to be deployed in different DA units including national and regional offices.

A few hours after the announcement was posted on social media, on February 9, 2021, calling for applicants, BAR’s online system received more than 3,000 applications conveying the young Filipinos determined interest in agriculture and agribusiness-related industries.

MAYA is aimed at developing a competent, skilled, and employment-ready young workforce.

The ceremonial awarding was conducted simultaneously in DA regional offices for their respective interns. (Photos by DA-AFID, DA-StratComms, DA-RFOs)
