Ceremonial Send-off of SOCCSKSARGEN Hogs to Manila (Feb 6, 2021)

Agriculture Secretary William Dar led early today, February 6, the send-off of the first batch of live hogs bound to Manila courtesy of the Koronadal Valley livestock Growers cooperative.

The first truck, carrying a total of 130 live hogs, weighing 13.6 metric tons, is part of the “whole of the nation” approach to revive the hog industry and reduce pork prices.

Another truckload, of the same volume, will be transported later today and is expected to reach Manila after three days.

Prior to the departure, Secretary Dar handed over to the members of the cooperative a “special hog lane certificate” to ensure the unhampered delivery of the live animals. (Photo by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
