
The Department of Agriculture (DA) launched various agri-fishery commodity industry roadmaps (CIRs) during the second day of its National Management Committee Meeting, June 17, 2022.
“They are symbols of our commitment to push forward and operationalize the major strategies of the OneDA Reform Agenda,” Assistant Secretary-designate for Regulations Liza Battad expressed.
The CIRs under the Poultry, Livestock, and Corn Cluster include:
- Philippine Yellow Corn Industry Commodity Roadmap 2021-2040
- Philippine Swine Industry Commodity Roadmap 2020-2025
- Philippine Poultry Broiler Industry Commodity Roadmap 2022-2040
- Philippine Poultry Layer Industry Commodity Roadmap 2020-2025
- Philippine Small Ruminants Industry Commodity Roadmap 2020-2025
- Philippine Dairy Industry Commodity Roadmap 2020-2025
- Philippine Carabao Industry Commodity Roadmap 2020-2025
On the other hand, the Fisheries and Aquaculture Cluster also developed the following CIRs:
- Philippine Milkfish Industry Commodity Roadmap 2021-2040
- Philippine Tilapia Industry Commodity Roadmap 2021-2025
- Philippine Shrimp Industry Commodity Roadmap 2021-2040
- Philippine Shellfish Industry Commodity Roadmap 2021-2025
- Philippine Seaweed Industry Commodity Roadmap 2022-2026
The High Value Crops Cluster noted the most number of CIRs produced, namely:
- Philippine Vegetables Industry Commodity Roadmap 2021-2025
- Philippine Onion Industry Commodity Roadmap 2021-2025
- Philippine Mango Industry Commodity Roadmap 2021-2025
- Philippine Banana Industry Commodity Roadmap 2021-2025
- Philippine Coffee Industry Commodity Roadmap 2021-2025
- Philippine Cacao Industry Commodity Roadmap 2021-2025
- Philippine Coconut Industry Commodity Roadmap 2021-2040
- Philippine Abaca Industry Commodity Roadmap 2021-2025
The CIRs were developed by various DA units, in partnership with the academe, farmers cooperatives and associations, research groups, and other industry stakeholders.
Secretary William Dar said that “Apart from rice, we have to look at the bigger picture for the agriculture sector. Let us finally leverage on our comparative advantage in high-value crops and other subsectors. Let the various Commodity Industry Roadmaps, which we painstakingly developed during this term, be your guide.”
