Consultation Meeting with NorMin Hog Raisers and other Stakeholders (Feb 13, 2021)

Agriculture Secretary William Dar met with the Northern Mindanao (NorMin) hog raisers and other stakeholders for unified actions from the government and the private sector for a food secure Philippines on February 13, 2021, held in Cagayan De Oro City.

Joining Sec. Dar were Undersecretary for Livestock William Medrano, DA-10 Regional Executive Director Carlene Collado, Regional Technical Director Carlota Madriaga, and NorMin Hog President Leon Tan Jr.

During the meeting, Sec. Dar stressed that the DA is open for consultations with various stakeholders and reminded everyone that the interest of the public should always be the end game. He reiterated that the price cap being implemented is temporary and effective only for two months.

He also encouraged more engagements from LGUs in leading their respective localities in cushioning the impacts of ASF. He said institutionalization through ordinances related to the Bantay ASF sa Barangay and provision for PPEs, rapid test kits, and vehicle disinfection will help a lot.
