Agriculture Secretary William Dar and Israel Ambassador to the Philippines Rafael Harpaz tackled possible collaborations for the Philippine agriculture sector to be more productive despite the pandemic.

During their meeting on February 16, 2021, Secretary Dar relayed that the country is still very much interested in pursuing cooperation on the solar power fertigation project, subject to proper government procedures.

“We want to really modernize our agriculture sector,” Secretary Dar said. He also shared the strategies being done to modernize and elevate the agri-fishery sector such as the establishment of agri-industrial business corridors, farm consolidation, use of precision agriculture, and setting up of the Philippine Future Agriculture Research Institute.

Ambassador Harpaz said that they would provide the assistance needed to move forward with the agriculture cooperation between the Philippines and Israel. He added that they could introduce companies that offer the best of Israeli technologies for agriculture.
