Culmination of 2020 Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month

Agriculture Secretary William Dar led the harvesting of vegetables at the urban gardens inside the compound of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) on May 29, as part of the culminating activity for the celebration of the 2020 Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month.

The Department of Agriculture (DA), through the ATI and the Bureau of Plant Industry, has intensified the Urban Agriculture Program as part of the strategy to capacitate residents of the metropolis and other urban areas to grow their own food. Apart from ensuring household food security, the DA chief stressed the importance of surviving, rebooting, and growing in the face of the pandemic caused by the COVID-19.
