Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William Dar and Asia Pacific College (APC) President Dr. Teresita Medado signed on November 22, 2021 a partnership on Digital Agriculture and Youth Engagement in Agriculture.
According to Dar, the partnership exemplifies the synergy between educational institutions and the national agencies towards nation-building.
“This is a big step in our efforts to engage the youth in transforming Philippine agriculture,” he said.
The Secretary expressed his appreciation to APC for initiating and supporting youth-oriented programs and its commitment to bringing data-driven digital technology to the country’s food systems.
Under the partnership, the APC will provide technical expertise, specialized education, and training programs to DA personnel to strengthen the Department’s information technology development program.
APC, in turn, will conduct multidisciplinary research projects, developing systems and applications for farm digitization, ease of doing business, transparency, and digital transformation. The partnership will run for one year.
“I am confident that this agreement will cement a lasting partnership, we hope to further strengthen this cooperation in the days and months ahead,” he said. (Photo by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
