Highlighting the importance of digital technology in mechanizing the Philippine agriculture and fishery sector, the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE) launched three digital applications during its 8th-anniversary celebration on June 28, 2021.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar witnessed the unveiling of three applications namely: EasyLevel, EasyFarm, and GeoAgri.

The first application, EasyLevel, developed by the DA-BAFE and International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), aims to optimize the booking process and minimize cost in locating and booking available Laser Land Leveling (LLL) custom service provider.

The EasyFarm is a mobile application, which assists farmers in searching for available and nearby farm machinery and infrastructure listed on the Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering Management Information System (ABEMIS) database.

Meanwhile, GeoAgri is a web-based management information system that contains an inventory of all farm-to-market roads and their logistics. It supports the Farm to Market Road Network Plan of the bureau.

In his message, Secretary Dar urged the BAFE management to strengthen expertise and use available platforms in leveling up the country’s farm mechanization standards. (Photo by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
