To maintain price stability, the Department of Agriculture has enforced a maximum suggested retail price on imported rice, onion and carrots, reinstated price caps on pork, and allowed the importation of onions, carrots, meat, and fish to augment local supply and temper price spikes.
The DA is stepping into the holiday rush with a firm hand, setting maximum suggested retail prices (MSRP) on pork in Metro Manila starting today to shield consumers from runaway costs while ensuring a fair return in the pork industry value chain.
Under a new administrative circular, pork liempo will be capped at P370 per kilo, while kasim and pigue will be priced no higher than P330 per kilo, effective Friday, December 5, across public and private wet markets in the Nationregulatory al Capital Region.
