The Department of Agriculture (DA) kicked off the Farmer’s and Fisherfolk’s Month celebration during the opening program of the second quarter Management Committee Meeting on May 2, 2022 in Davao City.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar led the ribbon cutting of the DA Davao Regional Field Office (RFO) exhibit and Kadiwa stalls featuring the region’s key agricultural commodities produced by partner-farmer cooperatives and associations.

In his message, Secretary Dar reminded the OneDA family that their loyalty as civil servants is for the greatest good, for the greatest number.

“I remind all of you civil servants here in the OneDA family that your loyalty, above all, is to the institution, to the DA’s stakeholders: the farmers, fishers, the vast Filipino consumers, the agripreneurs,” the agri chief said.

The following matters were discussed during the first day of the meeting: refinement of the Plant, Plant, Plant Program Part 2, the National Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization and Industrialization Plan, the Philippine Rice Industry Roadmap, and the Research, Development, and Extension Continuum, among others.

Secretary Dar also challenged the OneDA family to work double time, continuously elevate the productivity of Philippine agriculture, and sustain the gains achieved in boosting the sector. (Photos by: Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
