Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar together with Undersecretary for Operation Ariel T. Cayanan, and Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) Director Ronnie D. Domingo observed the quarantine measures being undertaken in the borders of Saranggani going to Davao del Sur, and Davao del Sur going to Davao City on February 8, 2020.

Following the reports of African Swine Fever in Davao Occidental last week, footbaths were immediately installed in entry points of the aforementioned provinces. Vehicles coming from Davao going to Saranggani are also disinfected.

As of date, the temporary ban of meat and meat products from the Davao region is enforced. Culling of pigs within the one-kilometer radius under the 1-7-10 protocol is also currently being observed.

In Davao City, passengers coming from Davao del Sur are required to stop for footbaths and scanner facility for their bags.

Dar urged DA and BAI officials to be in the frontline of quarantine measures, and work with their respective veterinarians and the regional offices. (Photos by Alarico Nuestro, DA-AFID)
