Beyond Buzzwords: Transforming Philippine Agriculture!

Day 1: 2nd Youth in Agriculture Summit (April 21, 2022)

Agriculture Undersecretary for Special Concerns Waldo R. Carpio led the opening of the “Second Youth in Agriculture Summit” held at the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) Salvador H. Escudero III Hall, on April 21, 2022.

He was joined by National Youth Commission (NYC) Chairman and CEO Ronald Gian L. Cardema, National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) OIC-Executive Director Dr. Jocelyn A. Salvador, Bureau of Soils and Water Management Executive Director Engineer Pablo M. Montalla, OUSC Chief of Staff Atty. Arvin Manauis, and Senior Technical Advisor for Strategic Communications Dr. Rodolfo P. Estigoy.

This year’s theme, “Spark, Encourage, Engage the youth to Develop (SEED) new leaders for agriculture,” aims to convene young farmers, innovators, educators, and leaders for knowledge sharing and learning activities. It also aims to inspire young farmers to become innovators and agripreneurs by accessing the programs and services of the Department.

Almost 2,000 youth registered and attended the first day of the summit via WebEx and Facebook Live.

Leading and organizing the summit is the office of Undersecretary for Special Concerns in collaboration with the offices of the Undersecretary for High Value Crops and Rural Credit, Assistant Secretary for Strategic Communications, Assistant Secretary for Administration and Special Concern, Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Agricultural Credit and Policy Council (ACPC), Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE), Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fishery (PCAF), and the National Convergence Initiative for Sustainable Rural Development (NCI-SRD).
