Agriculture Secretary William Dar challenged the youth to take part in the country’s national food concerns by maximizing the opportunities provided to them during the opening of the “First Youth in Agriculture Summit” on May 11, 2021.

“Agriculture now paints headlines. So now, I dearly request that you, the youth, write the stories. Your decision to persist in the sector today is unprecedented. You took this path at a turning point in human history,” Dar said.

Dar said the youth are the “gatekeepers of rapid technological terms”. He said has the advantage and platform to educate their elders towards modernization and industrialization.

To support youth in digital agriculture, the agri chief said the Department implemented programs such as e-vouchers for the distribution of fertilizers and rice seeds for farmers, applications and e-Kadiwa which helps the agribusiness activity of farmers and fisherfolks.

The agri chief also encourages the youth to use their voice and bravery to fight anachronistic visions in intimidating chambers of different-minded people. (Photos by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
