FMR Inauguration and Communal Irrigation System Site Visit in Paoay, Ilocos Norte (Dec. 15, 2021)

Agriculture Secretary William Dar led the inauguration of the P158-million (M) worth of farm-to-market road (FMR) projects in Paoay, Ilocos Norte on December 15, 2021.

He also inspected the nearly completed Rehabilitation of Paoay Communal Irrigation System subproject amounting to P136.57 M funded through the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP).

During the agri chief’s visit, he announced that 2,329 rice farmers in the municipality will each receive P5,000 through the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA) program.

For the town’s livestock raisers, Secretary Dar committed to fund cluster swine raising projects and promoted collective farming to enhance biosecurity. He added that Paoay, which is known to be a tourist destination, could develop its agri-tourism through the establishment of model farms. He stressed that food security is the primary responsibility of the local government unit (LGU) and that the national government and the LGU should always work hand in hand.
