Agriculture Secretary William Dar launched the P500 million-worth Fuel Discount for Farmers and Fisherfolk Program at the Subic Port in Zambales on March 21, 2022.

Under the program, qualified corn farmers and fisherfolk will each receive P3,000 in fuel discount cards as part of the support of the national government to those affected by ongoing global economic challenges including the spike in fuel prices.

More than 200 beneficiaries initially received fuel assistance during the event led by Secretary Dar, Assistant Secretary for Operations Arnel De Mesa, and Assistant Secretary for Strategic Communications Noel Reyes.

Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Director Eduardo Gongona, Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE) Director Ariodear Rico, BFAR Assistant Director Sammy Malvas, BFAR Regional Director Wilfredo Cruz, and DA Regional Director Crispulo Bautista were also present.

The DA partnered with the Development Bank of the Philippines, USSC Money Services, Inc., and the local government units for the efficient distribution of discount cards. (Photo by Adones Buhayan, DA-AFID)
