
Agriculture Francisco P. Tiu Laurel, Jr, speaks before stakeholders at the Philippine Livestock, Feed Mill, and Gamefowl Congress on Thursday (May 30), in San Jose, Batangas known as the country’s “Egg Basket,” the DA chief highlighted the urgency of building a more resilient and productive agriculture sector amid climate challenges, supply chain disruptions, and global competition.
Tiu Laurel also acknowledged the gamefowl industry, describing it as a vibrant part of the rural economy and a keeper of cultural heritage. As the sector evolves, he said, the government is ready to work with breeders to professionalize operations and ensure responsible, science-based animal care.
