Groundbreaking of Multi-Fruit and Vegetable Processing Facility at NVAT (Dec. 3, 2020)

Author: DA Communications Group | 3 December 2020

Agriculture Secretary William Dar and Nueva Vizcaya Governor Carlos Padilla broke ground on the soon to rise Multi-Fruit and Vegetable Processing Facility inside the compound of the Nueva Vizcaya Agricultural Terminal (NVAT) on December 3.

The P40-million facility is part of the modernization initiatives of the Department of Agriculture to help farmers earn more from their produce. The processing facility aims to reduce product wastage, especially during peak season when the harvest is bountiful.

According to the Secretary, by value-adding and processing, postharvest losses will be reduced, thereby increasing farmers’ productivity and income. He added that the facility will create job opportunities in Nueva Vizcaya and nearby provinces as it will serve as a center for postharvest activities, value-adding, and processing.
