Agriculture Secretary William Dar visited the Center of Excellence on Climate Change Research for Plant Protection and other facilities inside the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) headquarters in Hyderabad, India on April 22, 2022.

During the tour, the Philippine agri chief was briefed on the current undertakings of the international research center as part of its efforts to attain good production and higher yield towards rural development.

Dar, who served as ICRISAT director general for 15 years, has launched strategies for the improvement of local food production in the Philippines when he was appointed as Secretary of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in 2019.

Under Dar’s leadership, DA leveled-up actions anchored on 18 strategies for a more robust Philippine agriculture. Among the pillars that support this transformation is modernization, which includes the implementation of climate change adaptation and mitigation measures.
