Agriculture Secretary William Dar inaugurated four research for development (R4D) facilities funded by the Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) under the Bayanihan Act as One situated inside the compound of Western Visayas Integrated Agricultural Research Center (WESVIARC) in Iloilo City, on March 31, 2022.

The P37-million project is composed of plant tissue culture laboratory, farmers’ exhibit and training facility, multipurpose research and development facility, and an organic agriculture center.

During his rounds, Dar suggested to the BAR research team to look into the development of more ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat products, and anchor processing and product development on items that have a higher market demand.

Ano ang mas kailangan ng masa, that should be your priorities,” he said adding that the facility must also consider the processing of non-organic commodities that are more sustainable and marketable.
