Beyond Buzzwords: Transforming Philippine Agriculture!

Awarding of Agri Interventions in Ilocos Sur (Mar. 4, 2022)

The farmers and fisherfolk of Ilocos Sur Province received various agricultural and fisheries interventions with a total amount of P86.64 million from the Department of Agriculture (DA) on March 4, 2022.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar led the awarding along with DA Ilocos Regional Field Office (RFO) Director Nestor Domenden, and Sta. Maria Mayor Brigido Camarillo, Jr. during the ceremony held at the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College.

The DA-RFO funded P76.96 million of the interventions and projects including the provision of animal stocks for typhoon-affected farmers, establishment of trading post, establishment of layer multiplier farm repair of research facility, and establishment of solar-powered irrigation system.

The DA-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), on the other hand, funded a fishery development program amounting to P9.68 million that will benefit the entire province. (Photo by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
