Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar joined the leaders, innovation champions, and partners in the government, academe, and industry for the Inclusive Innovation Conference (IIC) held at the Batangas State University on May 25, 2022.

In his keynote message, Secretary Dar urged the state universities and colleges (SUCs) to be at the forefront of the fight for the country’s food security amid the emerging global challenges.

“You must blaze the trail in never-before breached frontiers of science, innovation, and technology, with the resources at your disposal: your vast tracts of land not just as experimental fields but also as food hubs in themselves,” the agri chief said.

The Department of Trade and Industry has organized the IIC in the last six years in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology and the National Economic and Development Authority. The annual event aims to provide an avenue for key stakeholders to envision an innovation-centric future, reset goals and strategies, and launch collaborative programs on innovation and entrepreneurship in the public and private sectors.

With this year’s theme, “Leadership in Innovation: Key to Sustained Competitiveness and Economic Growth,” the two-day event targets to define the kinds of innovation that drive growth and help the country meet its developmental and economic objectives. It also seeks to elevate innovation to the top agenda as a foundation of reform and organizational change and set governance performance metrics for innovation and entrepreneurship. ### (Photos by: Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
