Agriculture Secretary William Dar shared a light moment with the 25 interns of the Mentoring and Attracting Youth in Agribusiness (MAYA) through a virtual meet-up dubbed as “Kuwentuhan with Secretary Dar and MAYA interns” on June 11, 2021.

In his message, Secretary Dar congratulated the 793 interns nationwide who have been with the program since the first day, inspiring other young Filipinos through their personal learnings and experiences.

“Out of the 3,113 applicants, you are the chosen ones. Seeing how your stories inspired the youth’s interest in agriculture, we, at the Department of Agriculture (DA), know that we have made the right choice in sharing this opportunity for the young Filipinos through this program,” the DA chief said.

“In the past three months, we have witnessed the promising progress of our interns in the various sectors of agriculture. Despite the global pandemic, the MAYA program is able to provide opportunities in the actual field. We have read your stories and testimonials, and we are very proud of how you were able to unfold your potential as you explore the field,” he added.

Also present during the virtual “kamustahan” were DA Undersecretary Leocadio Sebastian, also the chair of the MAYA Coordinating Unit; and DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research Director Vivencio Mamaril who served as the host and moderator for the event. (Photo by Alarico Nuestro, DA-AFID)
