Agriculture Secretary William Dar was joined by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Assistant Secretary Reveree Niño Contreras, Cagayan De Oro City Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya, and President and Chairman of the Board of Trustee Rhobert Maestre as they led the launching of “Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita at Diskwento Karavan” at Xavier Heights, Upper Balulang, Cagayan De Oro City on February 13, 2021.

During the event, Sec. Dar cited that during the height of lockdown “Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita” became one of the most important programs of the Department of Agriculture (DA), providing access to quality and safe food products at very low prices.

He said that the program is a good marketing strategy to showcase the local products of the region, benefitting food producers and consumers alike.

From March to December of 2020, the DA in Northern Mindanao (DA-10) has been providing marketing needs for the residents of Xavier Heights through the various Kadiwa outlets, generating P3.5 million sales.

During the launch, the DA chief, together with DA officials, awarded the Certificates of Participation to 13 farmer-cooperatives that partnered with the Kadiwa initiative.

Aside from Xavier, DA-10 also rolled out simultaneous Kadiwa Retails, Kadiwa on Wheels, and Kadiwa sa Bayani in other parts of Cagayan De Oro. (Photo by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
