The Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Police Regional Office of the Cordillera Administrative Region (PROCOR) sealed a partnership on October 30, which seeks to ensure food security to the families in Cordilleras, while ending armed conflicts.

DA-CAR Regional Executive Director Cameron Odsey and Brigadier General Rwin Pagkalinawan signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the implementation of the Binhi ng Pagpapala Program through seeds and fertilizer support under the Plant, Plant, Plant Program.

Binhi ng Pagpapala Program serves as the counter-terrorism initiative of the PROCOR anchored on DA’s Plant Plant Plant Program which enables Filipinos families to support their food needs in a time where movement is limited due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Agriculture Secretary William Dar who witnessed the MOA signing, the social-economic approach must be the initial measure of the government to encourage the people to go back to mainstream society.

“We must assure them that there is a government ready to support and give them assistance,” he said.

DA-CAR and PROCOR will continue to partner on various initiatives anchored on a whole-nation approach to end communism and conflict while ensuring food security and sustainability in the countryside. (Photos by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
