MOA Signing for various DA Agri Interventions for Sitio Kanawan (Dec. 5, 2020)

Three Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) were signed between the Department of Agriculture (DA), through the Regional Field Office III, Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM), and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), with the Kanawan Magbukun Aeta Community on December 5, 2020.

Signing for DA was Agriculture Secretary William Dar while the Kanawan Magbukun Aeta Community were represented by their Chieftain Berlinda Restum and Vice Chieftain Joseph Salonga. Magbukun Agro Eco Ventures Inc. President Norberto P. Mendoza was also present to facilitate the various DA agricultural interventions to develop Sitio Kanawan in Morong, Bataan towards sustainable and inclusive agriculture.

Under the agreement, DA will provide necessary technical assistance for the Kanawan Magbukun Aeta community who agreed to develop portions of their ancestral land into large-scale agricultural production areas.

Under a Project Management Agreement, the Magbukun Agro Eco Venture will assist the Kanawan tribe in the development and operation processes.

During the MOA signing, the Kanawan tribe presented Secretary Dar a gift basket containing their community value-added products including wild honey, labong atchara, papaya atchara, kasoy, banana chips, kasoy, adobo flakes, and rice coffee.
