Agriculture Secretary William Dar led the opening ceremony of the National Food Security Summit on May 18, 2021, held at the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) Convention Hall.

In his keynote message, Secretary Dar said the summit is a timely undertaking to level up Philippine agriculture and have a healthy, honest and productive dialogue to develop workable, timely, and innovative policy directions and strategies that will form part of the national food security blueprint.

He said the outputs of the two-day summit will complement the “OneDA reform agenda,” which is anchored to its four major pillars: consolidation, modernization, industrialization, and professionalization.

The National Food Security Summit is an annual event organized by the Department of Agriculture (DA) since 2018. It aims to convene stakeholders in agriculture and fisheries to address major challenges confronting the sector and come up with inputs to update commodity and industry roadmaps under the “new normal”.  (Photo by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
