Panabo City Fish Port Visit (Oct. 23, 2021)

Author: DA Communications Group | 23 October 2021

During his regional visit in Davao over the weekend, Agriculture Secretary William Dar made the rounds of the Panabo City Fish Port located in Barangay Cagangohan.

The port serves as unloading station for various fish species harvested in fish cages situated in the Mariculture Park in the same area.

To date, the park, which covers 140 hectares of municipal waters, maintains a total of 283 fish cages, measuring 10x10x4 (meters) and 10x10x5 (meters).

Each cage has a stocking density of 15,000 fingerlings of bangus and other high-value fish species.

Local residents claim that the mariculture park serves as a sustainable source of income for fishers who maintain family-based fish cages, with technical and financial support from the Department of Agriculture in the Davao Region. (Photo by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
