Highlighting the importance of collaboration, elevation, and innovation in crafting and developing strategic policy directions, Agriculture Secretary William Dar stressed the need to engage private groups, civil society organizations, practitioners, and even the academe, to level up the Philippine agriculture and fishery sectors, during the 8th anniversary of the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF) on June 21, 2021.

“Agriculture is too important to be left to one agency only, we need agencies PCAF to see to it that there is a proper engagement and all participation of various stakeholders in all process of consultation and other kinds of engagement,” Sec. Dar said.

The agri chief added that PCAF, through the years, continues to be relevant in engaging stakeholders in the development of an enabling policy environment, towards the realization of the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) new thrust and priorities towards food-secure and resilient Philippines with prosperous farmers and fishers.

The Secretary also congratulated PCAF for spearheading the pre-summit consultations of key industry players and other key stakeholders along the value chain who were part of the recently concluded National Food Security Summit (NFSS). ### (Photo by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
