Author: DA Communications Group | 23 September 2019

The Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) and Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) led by Dr. Moon Heejung paid a courtesy visit to Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar on September 23, 2019.

Discussions involved the lifting of the temporary import suspension of Philippine chicken meat to Korea after the avian flu outbreak in the Philippines in 2017.

The Philippines resumed all market access of its poultry products to Korea following the lifting of Korea’s temporary import ban on poultry on July 4, 2019.

With the recent ASF-outbreak in Korea, Secretary Dar expressed sentiment on issues being faced by the livestock industry in the Philippines. He requested for the Korean delegation to also share lessons learned and experiences on effective ASF mitigating measures. (Photos by Alarico Nuestro, AFID)
