Pilipinas Kontra Gutom Pledge of Support (May 19, 2021)

Agriculture Secretary William Dar and Cabinet Secretary and Task Force on Zero Hunger Chairperson Karlo Alexei Nograles led the Pilipinas Kontra Gutom pledge of support to end hunger with partners from the private sector on May 19, 2020 during the second day of the National Food Security Summit.

Government officials and employees, private sector representatives, and members of the Pilipinas Kontra Gutom pledged their commitment to partner with the Department of Agriculture (DA) for a unified vision of a food-secure and resilient Philippines. They committed to helping farmers, fisherfolk, and small food producers improve their income and productivity.

Companies present for the pledge were: Go Negosyo, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), McDonalds, Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Philippine Dragon Fruit Growers’ Association, Philippines Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture, Morination, Global Compact Network Philippines, Cargill Philippines, PPSA, Lazada, Pilmico Foods Corporation, Agritektura, Bayer, Vitarich Corporation, Jollibee Group Foundation, Nestle Philippines, East West Seed Company, Caritas Philippines, Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Universal Robina Corporation, JG Summit Holdings, and the Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines.

They pledged to participate in the whole-of-nation approach in eradicating hunger and malnutrition to save lives for a better future by heeding the call of the government for zero hunger through the Pilipinas Kontra Gutom initiative.

The Pilipinas Kontra Gutom, with members from government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private companies, is a national movement initiated by the Task Force on Zero Hunger chaired by Cabinet Secretary Nograles with Secretary Dar as vice-chair. (Photo by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
