RCEF Machinery Distribution in Palawan (Jan. 29, 2021)

Farmers, fishers, and other agri champions from Southern Palawan received P76.62 million (M) worth of agri interventions and assistance from the Department of Agriculture-MiMaRoPa regional office on January 29, 2021 as part of the strategy of the Department of Agriculture (DA) to level up and upgrade Philippine agriculture.

A total of 29 farmers’ cooperatives and associations from Bataraza, Brookes’ Point, Rizal, Quezon, Narra, Sofronio Española, and Balabac received 121 units of farm machineries and equipment valued at P74M.

“These machines, which are part of the mechanization component of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund, aim to enhance your productivity and increase income,” Agriculture Secretary William Dar said.

He added that the DA, under its One DA holistic approach, will continue to provide support and assistance to the rural communities towards a food-secure and resilient Philippines with empowered and prosperous farmers and fishers.

Aside from the farm equipment, the DA also distributed fiberglass boats, bottom gillnets, indemnity checks, and cash and food subsidy assistance to Palaweño farmers.
