RCEF-RFFA Program Launch in Ilocos Sur (Nov. 4, 2021)

Agriculture Secretary William Dar kicked off the distribution of the P5000 cash assistance to rice farmers of the first district of Ilocos Sur under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund – Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA)  on November 4, 2021.

The RFFA fund, sourced from the excess tariff collected from rice imported in 2019 and 2020, will be distributed nationwide until December 31.

It will be equally apportioned to 1.6 million farmers tilling farmlands measuring two hectares or less, who are registered in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA).

In Ilocos Sur, more than P105 million cash assistance will be extended to 21,184 rice farmers.

The agri chief added that contrary to RTL critics, the law is not a failure but a game-changer that has continuously supported the local rice farmers to increase production and profit. (Photo by Adonis Buhayan, DA-AFID)
