Author: DA-AFID | 20 September 2019

Sana marami po ang makinabang sa mga pinakwalan nating ulang.” This was the message of Agriculture Secretary William Dar after releasing giant freshwater prawns or ulang in a Masao River, Butuan City. The initiative, aside from providing extra income to the local fishers, will also benefit the environment as the species released will help eradicate schistosomiasis or river fluke.

Dar congratulated the officials and staff of the Department of Agriculture and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in the region for implementing programs and projects to benefit local farmers and fisherfolk. (Photos by Gian Carlo Luague)
