Agriculture Secretary William Dar visited the cold storage facility in Caballero, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija on Sept. 30, 2021. The facility is designed to store various farm produce, specifically onions, at an ideal temperature.

The P190-million worth facility, built under the I-BUILD subproject of the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), has the capacity to store 120,000 bags of onions.

According to Secretary Dar, the Palayan City Cold Storage will prolong the shelf life of onions and other farm produce, which in turn will generate bigger income for farmers.

In line with the modernization pillar of the “OneDA Reform Agenda,” the facility may be used by growers in Palayan and nearby municipalities. It is being managed by the Katipunan ng mga Samahang Magsisibuyas ng Nueva Ecija (KASAMNE). (Photo by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
