Agriculture Secretary William Dar turns over one unit of refrigerated delivery truck to the Hi-Land Farmers’ Multi-Purpose Cooperative. This is in support of the cooperative’s electronic marketing system.

Hi-Land’s e-marketing is inclusive of a retail store where fresh vegetables from growers in Benguet, La Trinidad, Ifugao and Baguio City are made available at a reasonable price.

Under the electronic system, consumers may place their order and pay online. Once confirmed, Hi-Land will process, repack, and deliver the produce.

“This is in line with our mission to transform our farmers into agripreneurs and not just mere producers and growers,” Secretary Dar said.

The P2.52-million refrigerated truck, which was turned over on October 29, was funded under the High-Value Crops Development Program of the Department of Agriculture in CAR. It will directly benefit more than 4,120 farmer-members of the cooperative. (Photos by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
