
The Taloy Sur Irrigators’ Association led by Association President Brian Ducat received the Modernized Greenhouse with Hydroponics Project worth P950,000 from Agriculture Secretary William Dar on October 30, 2021.
“We have to plan and invest early in this protective and precision agriculture that is the way forward to continuously produce vegetables,” Secretary Dar said during the event held in Taloy Sur, Tuba, Benguet.
The agri chief also stressed how farm clustering and collective action or cooperative development are important for higher efficiencies in operations and improved profits.
He committed two units of greenhouse with solar power system to be established next year for the association, while the local government led by Mayor Clarita Sal-ongan will provide one unit greenhouse as counterpart.
After the establishment of the greenhouses, the secretary said that DA will also provide a hauling truck to lessen the farmers’ transportation cost.
He also proposed that the association could have an assembly and packaging area for their produce.
The Taloy Sur Irrigators’ Association, with 114 members, has been recognized as one of the most outstanding SWISA in the country.
