Agriculture Secretary William Dar turned over to the Provincial Government of Davao de Oro five units of warehouses with solar dryer established under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) on September 9, 2020.

The P26.76-million infrastructure situated in Marapat, Compostela was established to augment storage volume and drying capacity for the province.

The facility has a storage capacity of 40,000 bags and a daily drying capacity of 2,000 bags.

Governor Jayvee Uy thanked the Department of Agriculture (DA) and PRDP for its continued assistance to the province and committed full support to the national government in its efforts to help the country attain food security and empower farmers to be more productive.

In his message, Dar stressed that the Philippine agriculture is the only subsector that grew in the middle of the pandemic.

“We remain to be the steadfast partner of the local government as well as the private institutions towards food security for all. We, at the DA, will continue to extend help to improve rural communities for a food secure and resilient Philippines with prosperous farmers and fishers,” Dar said.
