Urban Agri MOU Signing (June 19, 2020)

Author: DA Communications Group | 19 June 2020

Agriculture Secretary William Dar and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the implementation of the Urban Agriculture Program (UAP) on June 19, 2020 during the former’s first regional visit after the three-month-long enhanced community quarantine.

Under the MOU, the Regional Field Offices of DA, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-CAR, and the Bureau of Plant Industry in the Cordilleras shall provide seeds and seedlings, as well as poultry as initial inputs to pilot areas identified by the city government.

Urban agriculture forms part of the government’s initiatives under the Plant Plant Plant Program, which seeks to encourage urban residents to engage in food production activities in order to increase home food supply. (Photos by Alan Jacalan, DA-AFID)
