Beyond Buzzwords: Transforming Philippine Agriculture!

Author: DA Communications Group | 27 May 2020

Agriculture Secretary William Dar and other DA officials visited the stalls selling fresh farm produce at the Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita retail at the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) compound on May 27, 2020. The visit aims to ensure that these stalls are following the government’s suggested retail price.

Sec. Dar also visited the urban aquaponics model established at PCA. Aquaponics is a technology combines the concepts of aquaculture and hydroponics that allows fishes and vegetables to grow together in an integrated system. It is part of the Fish Resiliency Project of the Department of Agriculture through the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources. It aims to ensure sustained food production in urban communities as the nation eases into the “new normal” brought by Covid-19. (Photos by Alan Jacalan, DA-AFID)
