Agriculture Secretary William Dar visited the Agribusiness Technology Incubator/Innovation Center (ATBI/IC) of the Benguet State University on the morning of October 29, as part of his series of engagements in the Cordillera Administrative Region.

The ATBI/IC was established to serve as a venue for the development of technical and entrepreneurial skills of smallholder farmers, as well as consolidate and give access to programs from the public and private sectors needed to develop their businesses.

The center will also enhance the network between the academe and the industry, generate employment, and encourage the young Filipinos to go into the business of agriculture.

At present, the BSU ATBI/IC, situated at the Benguet Strawberry Farm, supports 51 farmers. It also assists in the development of 14 Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubators in the Philippines. (Photos by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
