Agriculture Secretary William Dar committed additional interventions, including the provision of delivery truck, to support the clustering of the General Trias Dairy Raisers Multipurpose Cooperative (GTDRMPC).

On October 8, Sec. Dar, together with Assistant Secretary Noel Reyes, Regional Executive Director Vilma Dimaculangan, and GenTrias City Agriculturist Nerissa Marquez visited the milk processing center of the GTDRMPC.

According to Chairman Alonzo Reyes, the group was able to increase its membership from 44 in 2005 to 290 member-farmers to date. They also have a current inventory of 590 head of dairy carabao that produce 300 to 600 liters of milk daily. Their products include fresh milk, chocomilk, strawberry milk, kesong puti (kasilyo), pastillas (plain, cheese, ube, buko pandan, langka), ice cream (cheese and corn, cookies and cream), ice candy (choco, mais) and youghurt (plain, mango, blueberry, strawberry, patchberry and pineapple).

In 2021, the group was able to secure a P25-million contract with the Department of Education in Cavite in support of its milk feeding program. The program has benefitted almost 50,000 young students per day from Bacoor, Cavite City, Dasmariñas, General Trias and Imus, who are suffering from malnutrition.

Earlier this year, the DA-Regional Field Office in CALABARZON, through the Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita, provided the cooperative 38 head of dairy carabao worth P2 million (M) and delivery truck worth P1.2 million. Currently, the group gross’ sales per month is pegged from P1 M to P1.2 M. (Photo by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
