DA restocks Laguna de Bay

Author: DA-AFID | 20 June 2017

Hundreds of fishers from the Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon (CALABARZON) region receive fishery livelihood assistance, including the unsinkable fiberglass boats from the Department of Agriculture and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, which form part of the interventions of the Duterte government to the marginalized sector. During the launching of the Balik Sigla sa Lawa at Ilog or BASIL at the Laguna de Bay in Los Baños, Laguna on June 19, 2017, Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol led the distribution of P57-million worth of assistance to beneficiaries coming from different provinces of the CALABARZON. He, together with Senate Committee Chair for Agriculture Senator Cynthia VIllar, also led the dispersal of 5 million fingerlings on indigenous and non-invasive fish species as part of the efforts to restock and rehabilitate the country’s dwindling fish resources.
